Saint Patrick, Bishop
Patrick (385-461) was born in Roman Britain. At the age of fifteen or sixteen he was kidnapped by Irish pirates to Northern Ireland and sold him as a slave. After he was set free, he became a priest and later a bishop.
St. Patrick was sent by Pope St. Celestine to preach the Faith in Ireland. After thirty years, St. Patrick had converted the whole island.
O God, who chose the Bishop Saint Patrick
to preach your glory to the peoples of Ireland,
grant, through his merits and intercession,
that those who glory in the name of Christian
may never cease to proclaim your wondrous deeds to all.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
