About the job 工作內容

All teaching staff is obliged to remain at Sunshine House 1 day after the school year ends and 2 day/days prior to the beginning of a New School Year for staff meetings, classroom preparation and bulletin boards decoration as assigned by the Principal / CIC /Level Co-ordinator.


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

SHIPS Homeroom Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate programme in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures set by the Sunshine House International Pre-schools.


SCOPE

(The way that the position contributes to and impacts on the organisation)

The Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a programme to teach the assigned young children. The teacher must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with relevant procedures and policies provided by Sunshine House International Pre-schools.

At Sunshine House, we use EYFS as our main stream curriculum and integrated curriculum according to the child’s and parent’s need. The Homeroom Teacher will be respectful of all children and parents, and ensure that equipment and facilities are safe and well maintained. Bulletin Boards are decorated and monthly portfolios are updated.


RESPONSIBILITIES

(Major responsibilities and target accomplishments expected of the position including the typical problems encountered in carrying out the responsibilities.)


  • Staff Attendance: Please sign in the staff attendance book upon arrival and departure that is placed on the counter at the reception.

  • Uniform: Please wear school uniform during working hours or on duty. i.e. Red

  • T-shirt with SHIPS logo, Black sports trousers. Comfortable socks to be worn at all time/indoor shoes/sports shoes.

  • Special Rooms: Please sign in & out the register book for the use of library, cooking chamber, science room, listening room, art room. Kindly clean up afterwards and return everything to its original position. If a room is left untidy after the use, please inform the CIC.

  • Furniture: Please do not move any furniture, teaching resources or equipment from its present location to another room or area unless or otherwise upon prior permission from the CIC.

  • Accident Report: Please make sure to record if any accident involving a child occurs during school hours in your presence on the accident book and the CIC should be informed immediately.

  • Library: Please ask the CIC in advance if you want to borrow library books or teaching resources from the library to be used within the school.

  • Art Room: Please mark quantity, class, date and sign on the register when taking art material from the art room.

  • Purchase: If you need to purchase any items for teaching resources please fill in the application form before the 15thday of each month. All forms are placed with the CIC under the folder “All Forms”.

  • Sick Note: Please provide a doctor’s note for sick leave and inform the CIC as early as possible through telephone call first followed up by a text message.

  • Leave: Casual Leave: To apply for a casual leave unless it’s an emergency please fill in the form and submit three weeks before to the /CIC who will help you to process it and will inform you after the approval from the operation team. If a staff member is travelling outside from Hong Kong please fill in the form two weeks in advance to state your destination country, city, address, period of stay and a contact number for safety purposes.

  • Grievances: In case of any grievances teachers should let the CIC know the nature of the issues promptly. Please try to resolve any grievances informally in the first instance directly with the person. If necessary, put it in writing to hand in to the CIC. A meeting will be scheduled without unreasonable delay for both parties to be heard and final decision will be decided by the operation and support management team.

1. Develop, lesson plan and implement a developmentally appropriate programme for young children.


Main Activities

  • Provide weekly and monthly schedules and lesson plans of activities four weeks before the actual date.

  • Please hand in Playgroup course/ a month’s lesson plans, four weeks in advance to the CIC for the approval of the curriculum coordinator and learning material to be approved and bought beforehand.

  • Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the programme.

  • Over Cultural Festivals, Open Days, Sports Day and Special Activities Day please help to decorate the school area and make sure all the prep work is done before you leave.

  • Provide adequate equipment and activities.

  • Ensure equipment and the facility is clean, well maintained and safe at all times.

  • Develop culturally appropriate programmes and activities.

  • Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts.

  • Establish policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies.

  • Be familiar with emergency procedures.

  • Provide nutritious healthy snacks.

  • Escorts children out on field trips.

2. Supervise children at the Sunshine House


Main Activities

  • Ensure children are supervised at all times.

  • Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling.

  • Build children’s esteem / self esteem

  • Provide Love, care and Comfort children.

  • Establish routines and provide positive guidance.

  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.

  • Implement positive discipline when required.

  • Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.

  • Observe children and make note of progress.

  • Integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner.

3. Communicate with parents and among staff


Main Activities

  • Discuss children’s development with parents over PTC/ weekly/ monthly/ quarterly.

  • Discuss identified problems and needs with counterpart teacher, Head teachers, principal, if necessary then professionals as appropriate.

  • Participate in community activities.

  • Promote literacy and early education.

  • Please communicate with your counterpart teacher about lesson plans artwork ideas to confirm not to overlap with Arabic curriculum.

4. Maintain programme administration


Main Activities

  • Keep parents informed of programme expectations, programme activities and their child’s progress.

  • Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential students / client files.

  • Develop daily activity plans.

  • Monitor the programme budget to purchase teaching material or seek assistance from Head Teachers on spending budget.

a. Physical Demands

(The nature of physical effort leading to physical fatigue)

Caring for children can be physically demanding. The Homeroom Teacher may be lifting and carrying children and equipment, and may spend time sitting on the floor or child sized furniture. The Homeroom Teacher will be expected to maintain equipment and facility, and may move throughout the community with children. The Homeroom Teacher may come in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious, and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, staff and themselves.


b. Environmental Conditions

(The nature of adverse environmental conditions affecting the incumbent)

The Homeroom Teacher will be working in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. There may be a number of activities and situations happening at once, and the Homeroom Teacher will have to supervise all children at all times.


c. Sensory Demands

The Homeroom Teacher may experience smells associated with toileting and children who are ill. There may be times that the environment is noisy and busy.


d. Mental Demands

(Conditions that may lead to mental or emotional fatigue)

Caring for children can be stressful. The Homeroom Teacher must ensure that children are supervised at all times, and that children are involved in safe and appropriate activities.

There may be a number of situations happening at once, and the Homeroom Teacher must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time.
